Favorite Blonde

GWEN STEFANI - EARLY WINTER (Official Video)

Not my favorite song, but stunning nonetheless. Mature dress choices. Clear couture choices, only for the best. The green flower print looks like a Galliano but I can't say 100%. Enjoy, as always.
Oh and shouts to the painted trains. You get the best looks at graff when riding the train.

Trend. Glitz. Sweet Seduction.

So colored leggings or tights are the new black according to Laura Luv. I couldn't agree more. Fingerless gloves are always key, and a million dollar smile always kills it.

argyle socks! layer layer. and knee high is key.

calle 13 ft orishas - pal norte-El Residente

Over the Thanksgiving holiday its always interesting to get together with your family and bring each other up to date on "whats up." My dad, being a man of the times that he is, asked me if i knew about Calle 13, a Boriqua rapper. Apparently homeboy stole the show with a dope performance at this years Latin Grammy's. He won 3 awards this year for his sophomore effort, and 2 for his debut, Calle is a political MC that literally represents the street that he came from. Similiar to M.I.A. One thing you must understand about Puerto Ricans is that we are completely tacky, we aint gonna deny that shit and it may be ridiculous but hey...
collabs with nelly furtado. yo she loves the island. does mad videos over there.k
denied puffy. homie tried to sign him. didnt work.

Gimme the Loot

With all the Black Friday sales would it be bad if we just went shopping for ourselves? That sounds so selfish, but the sales at some of our favorite shops are ridiculous. Check em out if you can. Don't miss Topstitch event on Saturday. They are having a trunk show with some of the designers in the house. Good music, drinks, and the girls will be dressed as elves wrapping gifts. Pick up those Babooshka jumpers and dresses. Hot fabric combinations and flattering colorways at affordable prices. Perfect for party dress ideas and one of a kind gifts. Babooshka is created and designed in house so your guaranteed custom alterations. And if you think you can make it for cheaper then DO IT! damn, don't knock the hussle.

Hussle Hussle

There is a delicious interview with Lanie Alabanza, the designer of cult favorite, Hellz Bellz in Format Magazine. She offers up some good insight on the industry and shows mad love to her man. Love design duos!

Here is a little taste from the chat, check out the rest of it riight here

Format: To what do you attribute the lack of female designers in streetwear?
Lanie: It may not seem like it but female designers definitely have a presence in streetwear, that’s for sure. Just because they may not be in the forefront with their own line, doesn’t mean they aren’t there. As far as female brands in streetwear, the niche is still pretty small but it’s good to see that it’s progressing. I’ve been seeing a lot more women’s brands popping up as of lately, but whether or not they are actually designed by a female or have some guy behind the computer designing for them, that I don’t know. It would be nice to think that a female is behind them all and not just a face for a brand.

OMOI in between 16th and 17th on Pine stocks Hellz Bellz, more than just one or two hoodies, Deep Sleep. There is more to come for Holiday, Liz already has the order in! Stop in and check it out. OMOI is on our links, she's got a well developed site up with most of the merchandise available to purchase.

Let Me Blow Your Mind

Recently we did a piece about Isabella Blow and her impact on the career of Alexander McQueen. The following video is more of a supplement to that piece. Risk takers and generators of style are what keep this industry alive.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN-LOVE RIFE

As our week of costume debauchery closes, we decided to share some photos. We kicked the week of with an ILL Cypress Hill show, and let me say that hands down it was one of the best hip hop shows I've seen in awhile. It helped that our buddy Evan hopped on stage and dove into the crowd while Rock Superstar closed the show. YES! The boys from Pedestrian held it down with a tee release and a basement banger. The music was off the hook and even though the Rife girls were the only costumed dolls we had fun. Ah and finally Halloween, BOB AND BARB'S of course! We couldn't resist bobbing for PBR, pumpkin drawing contests, hilarious costumes, and neighborhood friends. DJ Steve Ferrel jumped on the wheels and we danced our asses off to the BEST hip hop and soul jams. So I hope everyone had fun, there were so many parties to get down at. Now back to work? Welll, the weekend is right around the corner...
