Lucite Handbag

I've always been one for sleek black look, but the pink is darling, no? Which do you prefer? I love all the custom fitted compartments.

John Galliano via Paris

I mean, are these not to die for? or rather, die in? These heels are so towering I can't imagine walking too long in them, but they are nonetheless stunning!

I can still recall the very first high fashion dress I saw that triggered my love affair with high fashion. The Absinthe green dress was done by John Galliano for Christian Dior. Nicole Kidman wore it and walked the Academy Awards red carpet in 1997.

It was an asian inspired statement dress with fur detailing along the side slit. John Galliano has a romantic and sophisticated edge touch to his work, he's Spanish, c'mon. What was the first piece you saw that changed your world?

I love my pits, maybe I can get a two headed rocking pit...
"Artist Tim Racer graduated from the Center for Creative Studies in Detroit in 1984, and quickly earned accolades as a successful young illustrator in Chicago. Tim was well known for his keen color sense, fine craftsmanship and his fluid, stylized paintings."
He is also the co-founder of "bad rap", a pit rescue organization (I adopted my baby Moses through them).

McQ to Hit Target

Alexander McQueen's Designer Collaboration is slated to arrive Target stores March 1st. His the creative inspiration for his capsule collection comes from the English rock band, The Duke Spirit, fronted by, Liela Moss. Nylon magazine got a sneak peek of the entire collection as well as some insight from McQueen on his muse and the complimentary looks.

“I wanted my Target collection to feature key aspects of the McQ Alexander McQueen aesthetic, classic craftsmanship with a rebellious, nostalgic flare,” McQueen told NYLON. “The collection is comprised of effortless, chic menswear inspired tailored pieces that women will feel confident wearing.”

Why Moss as his muse? For McQueen, the pick was quite simple: “I am always inspired by youth subcultures. I’m also inspired by music, rebellion, style revolution, and people with the passion to make a lasting difference.”

Here are some just of our choice cuts.

Interview with Rei Kawakubo

Rei Kawakubo went to university and studied art and literature, like a lot of bright girls do. But then she taught herself how to design, set up shop, and soon started to change the fashion world. Maybe design came over her like a dream, or maybe she was possessed by genius. Wherever that force majeure came from, suddenly this small, mild-mannered woman who had worked in textiles and as a stylist for a bit began to create startlingly original clothes that made the world take notice. She started making clothes under the label Comme des Garçons in 1969 (later incorporating it as a company in 1973). It quickly established an aesthetic that caught on with the art crowd and chic bohemians, and influenced all of fashion.
