New Print From Audrey Kawasaki: 'My Dishonest Heart'

Los Angeles based artist, Audrey Kawasaki, is known for her technically precise depictions of adolescent girls with enigmatic glares painted on wood panels. Her style is captivating because of the fine details and distinct due to her consistency in execution. Occasionally, I will check up on her blog, okonomide, because I really want a signed print and they sell out really fast! Ready For The Floor

Alright y'all. I haven't been posting because in true form I forgot the power cord for my computer in another state and didn't have much access to computers for the past few days. Also, I shut off the internet in my place since I'm moving outta Philly at the beginning of January and haven't been there lately. So, the blog will still stay true to the content, but as the primary writer, I will be comin' at ya based in a different area. Plenty of visits will follow, for sure. New year, new moves, same love. So, the past week has been jam packed with friends, holiday parties, Sparks sake bombs, dancing in the best clubs, arm wrestling, and engagements with whisky. Tis the season! So, let's get it in.

McQueen

Always bringing his show ahead of the pack referencing the technological movement that drives today's world and embracing the tools to exaggerate the present. Alexander McQueen brings what is beyond the beyond while defining forward design and construction of this era while remaining true to the spirit of beauty. Whether it be through fashion show production, fabric choice, or execution, what you know to be McQueen becomes more evident with development and time. The suit and dress with the black and white print and cut out stitching looks like a real life futuristic version of The Nightmare Before Christmas. In a knock out fashion kind of way.

Out of the Box

Style.com has the most user-friendly website when it comes down to fashion show coverage. It's excellent because the pictures are specific to your catagory of interest. I always begin with the beauty section, so that I can get a feel for where the collection is going, then the details, and finally the complete collection, which I do in a slideshow rotation. Galliano always uses Pat McGrath to construct the faces. She is the global creative director of Max Factor Cosmetics and an absolutely phenomenal artist, check the record. The creativity between the two of them pushes the limits of conventional beauty which offers a spectrum of opportunity for anyone to achieve a desired look no matter how 'out of the box' it may appear. The John Galliano collection was so much fun to go through. I decided to highlight these amazing shoes, they truly defy the standards for footwear, love it. As well as some makeup and hair. The rest of the commentary on the collection can be handled by the people that were there and the man himself with the video attached to the post. Apprécier!

Love how the lip gloss looks like it is dripping off of Jessica Stam's lips.

The Kills are promoting thier latest album, Midnight Boom, which front to back is filled with punk influences and has all of the rock elements needed to get you going. I'm so stoked for this show, I've only been to Baltimore once and I think it's time for a visit.

I'm totally obsessed with this chicks voice right now. A few posts back I posted up the video for Last Day of Magic. If you never clicked on it, do so. The video is angst filled and undeniably sexy.

The show in Baltimore will be the last before they leave the states for awhile, so worth the trip! They are playing tonight and tomorrow night in Brooklyn at the Music Hall of Willamsburg, but both are sold out.

SF

My homegirl took to me see this band,Lilofee, at 111 Minna in San Francisco. Check em. I like the 'We Belong Apart' track. She works with the singer Kimi, who has an amazing voice. The set was met with some technical problems but Kimi kept it going with an impromptu acapella version of Ace of Base's 'I Saw The Sign.' It was awesome.

Boston Boys!

They did it. After 15 years apart the New Kids on the Block performed together this morning on the Today show. I'm not even getting into all of the New Kids stuff my sister and I had as kids. Jordan was my favorite and Donnie hers. I have New Kids trading cards at my house right now if anyone REALLY wants to get into it...They even have 'fun facts' on the back. Just sayin.
ENJOY!

Fun Fact- the turnout for today's show was the biggest ever with 3000 people at Rockafeller Center.
