Expect to see it at Philadelphia's premier Stussy shop on Walnut street. The collab will include tees, tops, and accessories. Alright y'all. I haven't been posting because in true form I forgot the power cord for my computer in another state and didn't have much access to computers for the past few days. Also, I shut off the internet in my place since I'm moving outta Philly at the beginning of January and haven't been there lately. So, the blog will still stay true to the content, but as the primary writer, I will be comin' at ya based in a different area. Plenty of visits will follow, for sure. New year, new moves, same love. So, the past week has been jam packed with friends, holiday parties, Sparks sake bombs, dancing in the best clubs, arm wrestling, and engagements with whisky. Tis the season! So, let's get it in.

This year the celebration with commence with a Gothic Lolita fashion show, from our own, Toni Turner. She's responsible for all of the headbands and hair clips on the main table. This holiday we took inspiration from Yoyogi Park and the Harajuku neighborhood were girls basically just sit pretty and pose for photographs. Ambitious in execution yet delicate and doll-like. A perfect combination for killin' it! Omoi is now carrying Kera magazine! Much more punk, goth, loli than the mags already in stock. Extreme hairstyles, makeup, nails, shoes! A kaleidoscope of fashion!


There will also be light refreshments and 20% off your entire purchase! Perfect time to treat yourself to that Nooka watch you've been eyeing or a pair of handcrafted earrings straight from Japan. There are plenty of items for both men and women, even though Omoi tends to get reputation of being a super girl store. Despite the rep, all of the girls in the store definitely have a tomboy streak in them and therefore stock some BOSS merchandise.

Check the Barbary Coast series by SuperFishal for Upper Playground. Jeremy Fish put together a collection inspired by the hoodlums, harlots and heroes of the Bay Area. It features a sturdy metal cigarette case, a brushed gold lighter, sketchbook, leather belt with brass buckle, and a soft felt fedora. Recently Fish and the illustrious Miss Van co headlined a show at the Fifty24SF Gallery in the Lower Haight section of San Fransisco. Check out pictures from the jam packed show, HERE.

So far the bear seems to be the most popular. Personally, I think the rhino needs to come home with me. They retail for $28, and are basically indestructible.

Alexander Wang Wins CFDA/ Vogue Fashion Fund

Last night Alexander Wang took the coveted prize of 200,00 to grow his business and a year of mentoring. I've said it before and I'll say it again, this kid is confident. For his Spring 08 show, instead of tireless straining over the details of the collection he chartered a bus complete with a stripper pole and partied the night away, because his collection was done a month early. His collections are smart, energetic, and youthful. He approach to stylizing streetwear is aimed at the, well, Meenal Mistry says it best, 'the kind of go-getter who likes to cap off an all-night party with a pickup game at the West 4th Street courts.' Word, mama. That's what I'm talking about. Let's take a look at some choice cuts from Wang's Spring 2009 collection. Followed by a video of the night's events which were hosted by none other than John Galliano and muse Charlize Theron.

With the month of October Being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Men and Women alike in New York City area doing their share in helping raise both Awareness and Funds to Combat what a great deal of Women in the World are plagued with. Rock The Ink

This year Rock The Ink, a music and tattoo lifestyle expo, will set up for three days, October 24th, 25th, and 26th in Providence, Rhode Island at the Dunkin Donuts Center and the Rhode Island Convention Center. The tattoo expo will feature over 100 of the top tattoo artists in the world, fine artists, celebrities, local band competitions, and much more. Some of the guests featured are Ami James and Yoji from Miami Ink, Shawn Barber, Alex Grey, and yes those Rock of Love girls. Some of the bands are scheduled to perform are Killswitch Engage, Saliva, Madball, All That Remains, and Sevendust. Bret Michaels is headlining the final night, just sayin. This is a pretty rad event with a lot going on all three days, check out more of the details here.

Tickets are 37.50 for one day or 77.50 for all three days. You can also purchase a 97.00 VIP pass which is good for one day.

Side Notes

Tuesday night Parson's New School of Design will host a cocktail reception for it's graduating class of designers. Senior collections will be on view from 6-9 pm and the event is free and open to the public. The designs will remain on display at Debut and available for purchase until the 29th. Definitely an event to check out if you are in the area.

Also in New York tonight! The Kings of Leon are playing at the Webster Hall. The show is completely sold out. I slept on those tickets! I will have to wait until November 15th to check them at the Electric Factory here in Philly. Bummer.

Referencing concepts from Snow White, The Matrix, Soylent Green, and Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World, Garcia combines Disney references with paranoid social theories and fatal prophesies about the dangers of detachment in troubled times. Ambien, the sleeping pill, is used as a metaphor for our sedated populace being controlled by corporate empires such as the pharmaceutical industry, while the world crumbles around us. The complacency of our culture and lack of outrage over the current state of affairs (loss of liberties, soaring national debt, and depleting natural resources) form central themes, told in a series of disjointed tableaux, in which the artist describes how “a powerful witch delivers apples poisoned with sleep elixir to the ambien somnambulents, a sleepwalking army of fancy dressed revelers, innocent and content in their dream world of complete denial.” With the absence of sustainable capitalism and renewable energy sources, our self-destructive society sinks deeper into its own demise, controlled by fear and distraction through fantasy propaganda and escapism. "The Young and The Banging"

Once you start living downtown, it can begin to feel like a big kids high school. It's like never never land, a place where one can stay young forever. The taxis begin to feel like the school buses. The restaurants are like our cafeterias. The bars and clubs are like our school dances and the streets are like our high school hallways!

But if downtown NYC were really a high school, what would it look like and who would the school body be?

Inspired by both the traditional American high school yearbook and Ezra Petronio's book "Bold and Beautiful" of Self Service, THE YOUNG AND THE BANGING is a downtown NYC yearbook that provides a look at almost 200 new faces of todays creative youth through polaroid photography.

A first of its kind, co-created by 15 girls or as PURPLE magazine calls them, "A fascinating NEW GENERATION born into the realms of fashion, art and success." The contributors include local favorites Tracy Antonopoulos, Sage Grazer, Rachel Smith, Philippa Price, Nicole Saldana, Louise Erhard, Laura Gerster, Katia Hakko, Kate Brien, Kathy Lo, Julia Tepper, Dana Veraldi, Carly Mark, Anna Skladmann and Amanda Merten.

We invited them to partner as co-creators to make the book through artistic collaboration. They were asked to highlight the young and creative people around them through Polaroid photography to act as their class photo and given spreads in the book to design in a way that best represented the lifestyle and creativity of those people.

Chadam Lives

I'm totally going to Comic Con next year. It's this great comic convention in San Diego and dope artists like Alex Pardee and Craola are there signing stuff and releasing exclusive prints and things. So many more amazing people are there it would take me all day to talk about it. I thought about how cool it must have been to be walking around there all weekend, last weekend. I was in New York this past Monday and I made my boss, Liz, stop in Midtown Comics with me. I mean in no way does it compare, but I felt like I owed it to myself to be selfish for a second. We climbed the stairs and I wandered in the two floor store awe until she told me it was time to go. There were tons of books, toys, videos, and of course comics. In fact, they were getting a new shipment in while we were there. Boxes and boxes unloading. I don't really read comics but I appreciate the artwork a whole lot and love books. Fantographic books are awesome. There was a Camille Rose Garcia book, The Magic Bottle, which I have never actually been able to flip through, so I can always find something cool. There, enough. I gotta go. Sorry for the lack of posts. This summer has been quite busy with school and work. I haven't even been to the beach yet!

Check this new Alex Pardee joint. This is the first footage from the 3D animation project he is putting together based on the character, Chadam. It was released at Comic Con and now here it is for all to see. Pardee originally created Chadam for the album artwork he did for In Love and Death, from the band, The Used. Since the creation of the blockheaded character an entire world has been materialized for him. He has amassed quite a following over the years. check check check it yall! Thanks.

It's that time again for the semi-annual (twice a year) PUNK ROCK FLEA MARKET. Our most popular reoccurring event/show/whatever (by far). All proceeds raised will goto the purchase of necessary equipment and supplies to ensure that all ages shows continue to remain a reality at The First Unitarian Church in Philadelphia - mainly the remaining payment for our new liability insurance policy. Do not let the name lead you to believe that it's just punk records, clothes etc. - it's a full on flea market with everything from furniture, to laptops / computers , to stereo equipment, to handmade apparel, to vegan treats, information from various non-profit groups, book stores, artists selling their work, bicycles & skateboards and whatever else we can fit onto the ballroom floor at The Starlight Ballroom.

Ok, so that's the rundown. Check out my homegirl Myles' table! She is a super talented artist currently over at Space 1026. She's got some dope tees stocked. From infant to adult, boys and girls, she's got you. Wow! The past couple of weeks have been crazy busy so I apoligize for the lack of posts. Yes, I'm sure my droves of devout readers are super bummed. However, I am really pscyhed for a show that I have coming up this Saturday in Springfield, MA. Makeup is usually the last thing that artists finalize for a show, yet it is a crucial part to the complete idea. The usual order is wardrobe, hair, then makeup. When designers or stylists put together shows the finalized "look" goes to the the person in front of the makeup chair armed with pigments, creams, glues, lashes, an endless list of products that can transform a face. We can get rid of or add elements to the facial structure with simple strokes of the brush. It's so much fun and I have a great time doing it.

This Saturday Salon Chiala presents Cause and Effect 2008 at the Hippodrome. For the past four years Chiala Marvici has put together a hair/fashion show that benefits charities in the Western Massachusetts area. Chiala is an amazing National Redken Stylist and has a concept salon in downtown Springfield. Believe me, I know, she has done my hair for three years. Her passion for her craft is contagious and I'm excited that she asked me to be apart of it this year. Her team of stylists are fun, cutting edge visionaries that come up with thier own themes for sets down the runway.

This year their are five different sets coming from some of the most energetic people I have ever met. A punk rock urban theme with custom denim done by the fabulous Paul Anthony. Japanese girls are featured in Jaclyn's set. European lounge ladies with smoky eyes have been envisoned by Diana. Stiched up freakish zombie dolls will be followed by flourescent pop barbie dolls are coming from Lisa. Finally, the Queen of the festivities, Chiala, is looking into the future embracing technological textiles and closing the show. I haven't seen the hair styles yet, but I can tell you that the makeup concepts are off the walls and I can't wait. So! Saturday, yes tickets are a little pricey at 40 beans, but it's well worth it. we've got like 90 plus biddies struttin down the runway, drinks, and yea yea photogs...Hope to see you at the show!
