Trend Spot

Stage Lashes
Once considered more of a luxury item worn by celebrites on red carpets, fancy false lashes are becoming available at a decent price point thanks to companies like, Make up Forever, Shu Uemura, and MAC cosmetics.

Makeup, like fashion, should never be taken too seriously. Experiment and have fun!

One Ill Ass White Boy

Jay has one of the most contagious personalities around, a Philly favorite for sure. The kid is always animated, gets the party started, and will jump right into the middle of his own parties and dance better than anyone in the room. Have we pumped him up enough for you? He throws a dope weekly every Wednesday in center city Philadelphia at Pearl on Chestnut street, you should check it out. The 4AM party he throws with Dirty is always a good time. Special guests the past year included Drop The Lime, LA Riots, and Matt and Kim, just to name a few. Last week the party was at Silk City and Philly's own, DJ Excel, killed it. Take a listen at what the man has been up to. Download the Just Friends mix here!

Artist Spotlight: WK Interact

"I have created my own jail because I have created my own image"- WK

I really appreciate when someone can admit to the fact that stimulation from a city creates the drive to create, especially in New York City, a place that a lot of people tend to talk down upon without spending any time there. Movement is a natural force that can be broken down and studied in different ways. Some people see movement in music, others in the fluidity of a garment, perhaps the movement of numbers strikes your fancy. The January issue of Juxtapoz Magazine issue #96 features the art of WK Interact, an artist with a 'built-in motion' style of painting. His work reflects the study of the movement of people. His excecution reflects a militant approach to the development of composition. In the issue on newsstands now, he talks about his struggles in New York, how he decides on places to strike, and gives insight on the reason black and white is his choice of paint. Pick up an issue.

Also featured in the issue are Insa, Munk One, Ian Francis, and Jeremyville.

We Liked It

I was thinking of putting together a top something of my favorite tracks from the year. But, I've been workin on that Top Ten Album thing for a few days and figured, screw it, let me narrow this down to what song did most people play when they came to my house? What song, er, wait, rather, video did they need to see? HANDS DOWN it came to me. Beyonce's 'Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)' ANTHEM! At LEAST 2-3 plays each sitting, no doubt about it. I really think the idea was to get homegirl's insane dance moves down. That whole 'drop it to the floor and bring it back up' thing had females creepin' on that video to get schooled! You know who you are! And I got nothin but love for ya! Because back when 'Crazy In Love' came out, that was my JAM, I was trippin' over that video, yep yep.

Crazy In Love
Let's not get it twisted. I was not feelin' the whole 'avant garde' style B was trying to pull off for this album. It just doesn't translate to the masses and I'm sure that's probably what she was going for, but it didn't even look good, flat out. Still gorgeous, lets just nix the Alexander McQueen and Gareth Pugh for a second.

Never Have I Ever

Had an obsession with a blind box series. Drink.

I've fallen victim! Honestly. Frank Kozik's latest collaboration with Kid Robot has me fixin' to track down every single 1.5-inch mini figure in the standard limited third series. There are 15 designs total and so far I have nine! I was initially drawn to the bubble gum popping labbit, and that one took me at least 25 open boxes to get. I had to work out a two for one deal with a girl in OMOI, because, yes, I have doubles, and boy was that a close one! I would take a photo of the little guys I have but pretty much everything of mine is in storage at the moment. BTW. '08 was all about living out of the suitcase. Maybe '09 will have me sitting in one place? Mehhhh. Not my speed.

Here's the glorious bubble poppin' labbit. ENJOY!

Smorkin' Labbits and other blind box's are available at OMOI.
