McQ to Hit Target
Alexander McQueen's Designer Collaboration is slated to arrive Target stores March 1st. His the creative inspiration for his capsule collection comes from the English rock band, The Duke Spirit, fronted by, Liela Moss. Nylon magazine got a sneak peek of the entire collection as well as some insight from McQueen on his muse and the complimentary looks.
“I wanted my Target collection to feature key aspects of the McQ Alexander McQueen aesthetic, classic craftsmanship with a rebellious, nostalgic flare,” McQueen told NYLON. “The collection is comprised of effortless, chic menswear inspired tailored pieces that women will feel confident wearing.”
Why Moss as his muse? For McQueen, the pick was quite simple: “I am always inspired by youth subcultures. I’m also inspired by music, rebellion, style revolution, and people with the passion to make a lasting difference.”
Here are some just of our choice cuts.

Interview with Rei Kawakubo
Rei Kawakubo went to university and studied art and literature, like a lot of bright girls do. But then she taught herself how to design, set up shop, and soon started to change the fashion world. Maybe design came over her like a dream, or maybe she was possessed by genius. Wherever that force majeure came from, suddenly this small, mild-mannered woman who had worked in textiles and as a stylist for a bit began to create startlingly original clothes that made the world take notice. She started making clothes under the label Comme des Garçons in 1969 (later incorporating it as a company in 1973). It quickly established an aesthetic that caught on with the art crowd and chic bohemians, and influenced all of fashion.

Repurposed Leather Belt Flooring
"The vintage belts are personally selected and carefully arranged to style these unique, high quality accessories so that no two bags are the same. These striking and robust deluxe accessories are lined with bright vintage fabrics, tie silks and corduroys and have belt buckle fastenings.
The modular flooring uses recycled leather waist belts that are completely unique. At around 75$ a sq foot the end results is breathtaking. The belts are cut and arranged onto a leather backing and glued with a water based adhesive. The deep rich tones have the appeal of fine wood and a character that is unbeatable."

Jason De Caires
"Under most circumstances, nature will destroy anything man made over time. But Mexican artist Jason De Caires creates beautiful underwater sculptural pieces which are strengthened by the coral, algae, and marine life that grow on them."

Watch
Life, Love, and Motivation, balled up and aimed to hit the heart. Slumdog Millionaire tells the story of an 18 year old kid from the slums of Mumbai who wins big on an Indian version of "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" After the win, everyone, including show executives, are convinced that the orphaned boy cheated. In a desperate effort to clear his name he explains the details of his childhood, which then reveals how he could know so much about life and love. The movie won in all four catagories that they were nominated in at the Golden Globes on Sunday night. The film walked away with best drama, best director, best screenplay and musical score.
An interview done by Anthem magazine with the director of Slumdog Millionaire, Danny Boyle, HERE Boyle also directed Trainspotting and 28 Days Later.

Swagga Like You
Kid Cudi's track, "Day and Night," a stand out hit itself, was a dope track to dance to when it came on in the club. The remix done by the one and only, Jim Jones, is on that straight gangsta lean type shit. So smooth. Roll one up to this one.
Check out Jim Jones' latest interview with Complex magazine, HERE. If you got a second, check the video where Jones and Dame Dash are talkin about thier style contributions to the game.
